A Look at Our Recent Presentations
Our May 20 presentation featured Robert Wilkinson giving an in-depth class on “The Many Factors in Chart Analysis” via Zoom. Robert offered 20 important analytical approaches in reading charts, followed by a short analysis of 5 charts to illustrate how these techniques open vast vistas of understanding how charts work.
Robert’s talk is available for purchase. It consists of the class outline of the 20 factors and 9 audio tracks. The first four are the first section where the points were discussed, and the last 5 are the short analyses of the different example charts. There is a tremendous amount of information in these tracks, which are guaranteed to yield new insights each time you listen to them. If you want to become a better chart reader, please consider purchasing the talk.
It is $20 for members of Astrology Arizona and $30 for non-members.
Our August 26 event was originally scheduled to have noted astrologer Bruce Scofield discussing his new book but as something unforeseen came up, instead we had Robert Wilkinson presenting on "The Progressed Moon – Cycles of Changing Experience." Robert took us through the three most crucial Progressed Moon cycles in our charts, and what we can expect at each “turn of the wheel.”
This talk is also available for purchase, and will include 4 tracks totaling around 40 minutes with the class notes. For those who attended, they can get their personal copy sent to their email for $10. For those members who didn’t attend, it’s available for $15. (For non-members, it’s $20.)
As with our presentations, please donate through paypal and it’ll generate an email to us. We’ll send it directly to your email, but it must be an email which can accept large sound files, like Hotmail, Outlook, Gmail, and a few others. As it was an outstanding presentation, please consider getting your personal copy today and support the efforts of AAZ!
Our September 23 event featured April Elliott Kent speaking on "the Void of Course Moon." It was quite an extraordinary talk, and April opened us to other interpretations of the VOC Moon, and how it was computed totally differently in antiquity, giving us an entirely new view of how the ancients thought about orbs.
Our October 21 event was history in the making, featuring world respected Mundane Astrologer Gary Lorentzen speaking on "Planetary Pairs and the Eight Phases in Their Synodic Cycles." Gary took us through the 8 phases of social/political change, outlining what to expect in the decades (and even centuries!) following outer planet conjunctions. As Gary is one of the preeminent political astrologers in our world, the talk was wide-ranging, profound, and opened a hundred doors of political analysis.
The subject matter was so profoundly important that due to popular demand on the spot, we are planning a special extended workshop on April 27, 2024, with two speakers, Gary Lorentzen and Tony Dickey, who will lead us in an exploration of the major political challenges of 2024-2026 indicated by crucial phase shifts in the outer planet relationships. This will also be a presentation not to be missed!
Our November 18 event featured medical doctor and Vedic astrologer Alicia Blando speaking about "How Alternative Medical Therapies Give Clues About How Astrology Works." She gave a fascinating talk about the intersection of Western medicine, revolutionary healing modalities, and her path to discovering astrology.
Our December 16 meeting was our free Solstice program for members and the public. Robert led an astrological discussion of the meaning of the Solstice and Equinox charts and led the group through a delineation and time triggers for the near future indicating what we can expect in the coming season and year.
Our January 27 event was our yearly "Predictions for 2024" talk featuring forecasts from astrologers all over the world. We definitely covered a lot of ground in the 15 pages of material Robert assembled!
What’s Coming in Our February Presentation
Our February 24 event features a reprise of noted political astrologer Eric Alan Meece giving us a front end look on the US 2024 Presidential election in a talk titled
Presidential election and other prospects for 2024 and beyond
Eric has researched how to predict USA presidential elections since 2003. He has found that aspects in the natal horoscope are the best predictors, along with some transits and lunations. Eric will describe the horoscope scoring system and what it indicates for the candidates in 2024 and 2028. Eric will review what some key transits indicate for the crucial events ahead in the 2020s, including the eclipse of April 8, 2024.
E. Alan Meece (aka Eric Meece), born Oct.5, 1949, Uranus in Cancer rising, has studied and practiced astrology for over 50 years. His two books are Horoscope for the New Age (2019) and Horoscope for the New Millennium (1997), both now available at amazon.com. He has also written over 30 articles for Welcome to Planet Earth magazine, as well as articles for The Mountain Astrologer and the AFA Bulletin. He has a masters degree in philosophy and is author of the forthcoming book The Philosophers Wheel. He is past president of South Bay Astrological Society. Eric is also a musician, composer, broadcaster and event producer.
As Eric is one of the foremost Astrologers in this field, this should be another excellent discussion, and we hope you will join us for this event, since “what one astrologer misses another catches.”
As usual, it's $10 for members, and $15 for non-members. You can register by going to our website at https://azastrologers.org/

AN ASTROLOGICAL OVERVIEW OF FEBRUARY 2024
by Robert Wilkinson
(This column is an abbreviated version of what we send to members at the beginning of each month. If you want the complete overview, please join our organization.)
In 2024, the month of February features the tightest compression of planets we’ve had in two years, with all the inner planets in Capricorn, Aquarius, or Pisces. This month renews the
themes of the Grand Mutation at 1 Aquarius, bringing Mercury, Venus, and Mars conjunctions with Pluto all on that exact degree! Welcome to a concentrated dose of vision and stimulation to a greater life. Remember too that on January 1 Mercury went stationary direct on a degree of “immigrants entering,” so we’re all still moving toward a new journey into “a new land.”
With the inner planets mainly in Capricorn and Aquarius this month, that’s the specific area of focus in our charts. We all got “tuned up” in some way in 2023, and found new questions, new answers, and new approaches. In February and March Mercury brings us a new adventure into a wider, freer future as we stand at our metaphoric “Ellis Island,” with radical developments coming between now and May!
This month shows Venus continuing as the leading planet of the occupied span, which creates a “Bowl” Jones pattern when the Moon is in Scorpio, Sagittarius, Gemini, Cancer, or early Leo, and a “Bundle” when it’s in Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, or Taurus. As Venus is closing in on its conjunction with Mars at 7 Aquarius later in the month, these two are prominent as “leading edge” energies.
Remember, the first 9 days of the month are still under the influence of the January New Moon at 21 Capricorn, helping us get clear about many things while “exercising” however we need to. We’re in a new emotional and social level of group work, and are now moving into a whole new feeling-expression and sense of priorities. December and January helped us get clear about the roles we are and aren’t playing, and the late January Full Moon at 6 Aquarius/Leo is mobilizing us into unknown potentials expressed as a creative admiration of different approaches and value systems.
The October 2023 Libra Solar eclipse continues to help us remove old ideals and old “repair work” which is already done or which can no longer be done. Ambivalence and theoretical images which aren’t relevant to our future are slipping away, creating space to be filled in 2024. The early Scorpio/Taurus Lunar eclipse Full Moon which followed the Solar eclipse is already working to help us “tear away from the known and familiar,” and find allies to build bridges from the present to the future.
The February 9 New Moon begins a new February influence, and brings a period of cultivating strength and resilience. While there may be disappointments, these are also part of the “call to renewal” we’ve been hearing since June 2023. This initiates a month of honoring our need to be individuals true to ourselves, allowing our heart’s desire to come forth accompanied by positive action!
Because Jupiter rules Pisces, Saturn will have a steady Taurus feel through May. As Jupiter is heralding where Saturn will transit in a few years, we’re all getting a sense of corners to be turned later this decade when Saturn transits Taurus and makes the waxing square to the December 2020 Jupiter/Saturn conjunction point at 1 Aquarius. That conjunction ended a 200 year Earth era and began a 200 year Air era, and set the sociocultural conditions for the greater Aquarian 20 year era now developing.
Saturn is accelerating rapidly and preparing to leave its shadow zone in Pisces on February 14, so expect quicker movement in the house where we have early Pisces. That sign is associated with deep and vast feeling energies, and impacts planets, points, or house cusps we have in Capricorn and Aquarius. Saturn’s Summer retrograde station led us back through experience to “hear a call to renewal” wherever we have early Pisces. Because it’s now direct, a new life related to that renewal will unfold quickly over the next few weeks.
The Spiritual Field
We continue to be blessed by the closest Neptune sextile with Pluto in 30 years, with Uranus joining the “three note chord” by the Summer of 2024. With Uranus in late Taurus, Neptune in late Pisces, and Pluto in late Capricorn/early Aquarius, we will have a very strong “double sextile/trine” which should favorably impact all planets we have in the last 10 degrees of Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces. The Spiritual Field represented by these outermost planets is helping stabilize our late Earth and Water sectors in the spiritual sectors of their signs.
This is preparing us for an entirely new experience of Spirit and Life in 2025 when these Spiritual powerhouses shift out of Earth and Water into Fire and Air, joined by Saturn when it enters Aries creating a “three note chord” of harmonic consciousness. That means 2024 and 2025 will spiritually harmonize planets we have in the late degrees of the Earth and Water signs, while in 2025-2026 they will do the same for planets we have in the early degrees of the Fire and Air signs. This will be discussed in greater depth in our April presentation.
We also have several long wave Aries cycles in play. Jupiter launched a major healing and mentoring cycle when it conjuncted Chiron at 15 Aries on March 11, 2023. That began a long wave Chiron cycle which will last until the Summer of 2036. As an aside, when Chiron transits between Aquarius and Gemini, it moves relatively slowly and has conjunctions with Jupiter about every 13 years. However, it can take 19-20 years for the next conjunction after Gemini or Cancer. That means once the conjunction at 16 Gemini happens in the Summer of 2036, then we won’t have another conjunction of Jupiter and Chiron until the Spring of 2056 in Aquarius.
Planets Slowing Down, Speeding Up, or Shifting Signs
This month shows all the planets in direct motion, so it’s full speed ahead! Every planet is now accelerating or at maximum speed and will continue that pattern until late February, when Mercury begins to slow down after the Superior conjunction with the Sun at 10 Pisces. All the other planets will continue at a fast pace until mid-April when Pluto begins to slow down before it goes retrograde.
In February we have four planets changing signs. This month the Sun, ruler of Leo and Cancer, will give us two (Aquarius and Pisces). Mercury, ruler of Gemini and Virgo, will give us three
(Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces). Venus, ruler of Taurus and Libra, will give us two (Capricorn and Aquarius). And Mars, ruler of Aries and Scorpio, will give us two (Capricorn and Aquarius).
Mars is currently at maximum speed, indicating we can get a lot done quickly if we don’t get too scattered or ahead of ourselves. It went stationary direct at 9 Gemini in January 2023, with a theme of being a Zen archer, sure in your aim as a result of your training between September 2022 and February 2023. This has been a theme for this year and continues in 2024.
Mars is now giving all the 2020 Capricorn cycles a new push during the first half of the month, and triggering a new iteration of the Grand Mutation at 1 Aquarius in mid-month. Mars helps us act with precision and persistence; in Capricorn, we can show our power and skill in a group setting and in Aquarius, put all we have into the greatest good for the greatest number.
This month Mars activates the house(s) where we have 21 Capricorn through 13 Aquarius. The first 12 days of February, Mars is in the Virgo decan of Capricorn, ruled by Mercury with an extra dose of the Sun. From February 12 through 26, Mars is in the Aquarius decan of Aquarius, ruled by Saturn with an extra dose of Venus. From February 26-29, Mars is in the Gemini decan of Aquarius, ruled by Mercury with an extra dose of Mercury.
Between February 1-12, Mars will prove agitating to those with planets between 21-30 of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. Between February 12-26, it will have the same effect on planets between 1-10 Aquarius, Taurus, Leo, and Scorpio. Between February 26-29, it will have an agitating effect on planets between 10-13 degrees of those same fixed signs.
As I’ve offered before, when Mars is within a degree of forming or separating from a hard aspect with a planet, slow down and show deliberation and caution in how you use force. Hard aspects to/from Mars always require that we moderate or antidote impulsiveness and impatience.
This month the sign focus again shows a preponderance of Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. Mercury, Venus, and Mars are all in Capricorn the first 5 days of February, and then Mercury joins the Sun in Aquarius. Mars remains in Capricorn through February 12, and Venus is in Capricorn through the first half of the month. By February 16 we find the Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Mars all in Aquarius, with the Sun entering Pisces on February 19 followed by Mercury on the 23rd.
So the first 5 days of the month features three visible planets in Capricorn, one in Aquarius, one in Pisces, and one in Taurus. From February 6-13 we have two in Capricorn and two in Aquarius, and by February 16 we have 4 in Aquarius. The 19th decreases Aquarius by one and adds it to Pisces, and by February 24 we have two visible in Aquarius and three in Pisces.
We’re Actors On A New Stage With A New Set – The Bigger Picture
We’re still in the initial years of a new era in human evolution. The Grand Mutation of Jupiter conjunct Saturn at 1 Aquarius began a new 20 year Aquarian Era in December 2020, as well as a new 200 year era, moving global energies out of Earth and into Air. We’ve begun to grow beyond the materialism of the past 200 years and have entered two centuries of Air emphasis, with its qualities of relatedness, receptivity, versatility, movability, lightness, and cooperative ideas, visions, and ideals.
We’re still "under the beams" of the Solar Eclipses we experienced in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 and these “cosmic recyclers” continue to remove what we no longer need in our lives. Take note of where you have 1 Cancer, 24 and 13 Sagittarius, 20 Gemini, 11 Taurus, and 2 Scorpio, since 1 Cancer aligns us with a larger reality, 24 Sagittarius helps us find happiness, 13 Sagittarius gives us a new identity and love, 20 Gemini removes what cannot be assimilated or communicated, 11 Taurus will help us remove “weeds from our garden of Life and Mind,” and 2 Scorpio is helping us release memories and attachments from the past.
The May 2022 eclipses with Sun in Taurus have begun to shut down old value systems in that sector, as well as the Scorpio sector via the May Full Moon Wesak Festival eclipse. The Scorpio Solar eclipses are already leading us to say goodbye to the past, giving up some old ideals. You can find out more about Solar and Lunar eclipses by going to my site at www.aquariuspapers.com where there are numerous articles in the archives on how eclipses work.
The April-May 2023 eclipses have begun to work their magic on our Aries and Libra sectors for quite a while to come. The Solar eclipse at 30 Aries is sure to shut down some elements wherever we have that in our charts, and the eclipses we’ve just been through are the last ones in the Taurus/Scorpio sector with a new one already shutting down some things wherever we have 22 Libra.
As we study how successive Eclipses have affected various areas of our charts and lives, we can get a sense of the utility of these “Cosmic Recyclers” in removing what we no longer needed in those areas, creating a void which attracted new life experiences. They invite us to look back, and then forward, to see the continuity of “letting go, taking in, letting go, taking in” across the years.
Primary Action Beats for the First Half of the Month
February begins under the influence of the January New Moon at 21 Capricorn, putting the focus on knowing when to act, finishing up whatever we need to before setting off into “the new country,” and learning cooperation in a group setup. We are in an expansive period through the New Moon at 21 Aquarius on February 9, so take advantage of the quickening to get ready to roll!
As this period is still under the influence of the January Full Moon at 6 Aquarius/Leo as well as the previous New Moon, we are all part of a “Mystery Ritual” which is increasing the general pressure. Admire the differences rather than get into confrontations.
The second week of the month begins with Sun square Uranus and the very intense old Moon conjunct Mercury and Pluto while square Jupiter. That will provide a radical turning point where newer or more important developments may occur, especially for those with planets near 18-22 Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius, as well as 6-10 degrees of those same signs.
The New Moon at 21 Aquarius happens on the 9th, so you can bet the next month will be radical or disruptive in some way, with some turning away from an old social role or authority, some going through a disappointment in personal relations, some realizing that ego cannot attain most of what it wants, all within the context of needing to find what is relevant to us personally within our society or culture.
The second week of February also brings Mars’ entry into Aquarius on February 12, followed immediately with its conjunction with Pluto on February 13. This will be a particularly intense period, and should be seen as a point in time when the 20 year Aquarian pulse which began in 2020 accelerates in power. As I offered earlier, February 14, Valentine’s Day, will be VERY intense because of that conjunction and the Moon in early Taurus squaring the Aquarius conjunction!
Primary Action Beats for the Second Half of the Month
The second half of the month begins with Mercury sextile Chiron on February 15, Venus’ entry into Aquarius on February 16, Mercury square Uranus that same day, and Venus conjunct Pluto on February 17. That’s a fairly intense period as well, with Venus bringing Her touch to a new Pluto in Aquarius expression for the year. The Pluto in Aquarius ideas that Mercury will spread are in some way related to what Mars will power up and Venus will make appealing.
Mercury square Uranus will help us understand what the Sun square Uranus promised us when it happened on February 8, with insights on February 15 from Moon in Taurus conjunct Uranus. February 16, 17, and 18 all show the Moon in Gemini, with clear and sharp insights and possible great introductions via the trines to Aquarius on February 16.
Still, show caution that evening with Moon square Saturn at the same time as Mercury square Uranus and Venus conjunct Pluto. That will make for a very intense Friday and Saturday, especially since the Sun will be in what I’ve termed “The Transfiguation Zone” from Friday evening through Sunday evening!
February 18 shows the Sun slipping into Pisces, with no significant non-Lunar aspects until Venus conjuncts Mars at 7 Aquarius on February 21. That means Venus and Mars will be VERY close during the second and third weeks of February, so we’ll all get a double dose wherever this transits in our charts. And because they’ll both cross the previous Full Moon Sun at 6 Aquarius, you can bet this will put a punctuation point on whatever we’ve had to learn from that Full Moon.
February 24 brings the Full Moon at 6 Pisces/Virgo, with Venus square Jupiter showing very favorable Jupiterian releases of “harvests from the garden of Life.” This encourages us to hang in there to get the rewards we really want from life, and, with humanitarian intent, play with ideas to find new inspiration.
This is the seventh month of the North Node in Aries era! We’re now in the midst of many months of realizing that our line of greatest development is best served by self-initiated activity which acts in the NOW, demonstrated by our balanced response to paying dues and remembering we do emotional repair work by understanding why things end when they do. We gain through building emotional or social potency, and demonstrate it through reconstructed feelings. We build through Aries and release through Libra, so adopt a pioneering attitude that is expressed with grace and diplomacy. .
This month we grow through finding a balance between activity and rest during the first half of the month, while needing to understand that some consequences are coming down so we can learn of the obligations of societies to individuals and vice versa. The second half we grow through knowing when to withdraw from something to preserve our dignity, demonstrated as a rest and relaxation of knowing we’re done with certain dramas. In any case, we grow through Aries and demonstrate it through Libra’s balance, fairness, and sense of justice.
Our wise friend Saturn brought us to the threshold of radical transfiguration and entry into a greater field of conscious Light/Life in March 2023, and having had our first experience of the Saturn in Pisces era, we now are ready to move forward into the next phase of the deep waters of Pisces. This is a time of demonstrating a greater empathy, sense of connection, intuition, and compassion.
Specific Saturn themes for February involve knowing what we believe in, and seeing how we’ve renewed our lives in some way since last June. By mid-month, quicken and eliminate everything unnecessary or superfluous to achieving your social or emotional goals, and by month’s end you’ll know you have mastered “flying by the seat of your pants” and are ready to be “guided into the sanctuary” in March 2024.
The Sun in Aquarius is a time to see the Light of our unique part to play in the greater group work dedicated to the greatest good for the greatest number. This is where we get to examine our ideals as an expression of our Leo heart radiance, and refocus our sense of being a conscious particle of Light in an infinite field of conscious particles of Light.
We enter our fourth year of the new Aquarian era, with a new iteration of that future-oriented energy coming this month! Jupiter in Taurus is allowing us new expansive ground which will sustain the Aquarian unfoldment into the future. Take a look back to see how you’ve attuned to your invisible helpers in 2023, and take a look forward since the future’s opening at record speed. We’re all entering a new land. Let go of the lesser, accept the greater, and the new land you find will be far more enjoyable than the old land you’ve had to leave.
Because we’re now in the fourth year of a new 20 year and 200 year cycle, remember a new era has dawned. Have courage and take the initiative to leave the Earth and fly free into the Air of what’s opening as the Grand Mutation expands its promise into the Divine transfigured ideal of a more just truth and future. This month brings a tremendous push into new Aquarian expressions. As always, lighten up, play a little, and be willing to explore new arenas of effective activity where you can work and play with other Light Spirits, and take heart as we stand at the dawning of the coming Pluto in Aquarius era.
We have now collectively transfigured into a greater vision of the one Light/Life we all are together. Continue to find your heart strength and new forms of genuine happiness appropriate for who you are now, and who you are becoming relative to just a few months ago.
The 2022 Capricorn and Aquarius transits began a new chapter of utilizing forms of personal power which began in Capricorn to serve the emerging Aquarian ideal. We now navigate the cosmic time-space between endings and beginnings so bless and forgive much to flow down the time stream. The past is over and we all have begun our trek into a new world of new potential, new adventures, and new ways to enjoy being ourselves while doing our work of Destiny. Open to the abundance of the process of growth, since we are all on a rocket ship to the stars!
Until next month
(or whenever we meet again, since tomorrow is never guaranteed)

THE GRAND MUTATION AND GRAND IRRATIONALITY
by Robert Wilkinson
When Jupiter and Saturn entered Aquarius and made their once-every-20-year conjunction, we launched into a new 20 year Aquarian era and a 200 year era dominated by all three Air signs! We weathered the Taurus to Aquarius squares of 2021 and thanks to several important events in 2022-23, now face a brand new future!
We are at the end of the 30-years period of "The Grand Irrationality" created by Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in 7th harmonic "Star of Destiny" aspects with each other. This was activated each time the Moon or any planet moved through one of the seven “hot zones” of this evolutionary configuration. This septile-based "fork in the road" aspect is indicative of the hard edge of revolutionary change which has been in play for 30 years and is ending this month. Of course, almost everyone born these past 30 years has it active in their charts, so we'll still be living with the after effects for many years to come!
* * * * *
Saturn is now in Pisces, bringing lessons of compassion, forgiveness, and how to achieve a mature closure on our ghosts while helping others deal with theirs. While we’ll still be focused on the group work set into motion the last 2+ years, at this time we're entering a long term productive relationship between Jupiter and Saturn, promising a lot will get done if we just joyous plow the field we are meant to work.
Because Saturn plays such a large part in our lives, if you haven’t gotten your copy already, please give yourself the timeless gift of my book, Saturn: Spiritual Master, Spiritual Friend. This book shows you the way to take command of your power to steer your life in a conscious way, using Saturn’s strengths and skills to master life on your own terms.
Remember that while Saturn can feel heavy, it is also our ability to take command of our lives and destiny by using Saturn’s virtues in the right way and time. Our ability to steer our “ship of personality” into its rightful “current of destiny” is in front of us, based in how we have prepared for our “role of destiny” heading at us like an express train!
In 2019 we awakened to "a new quality of Being," and perfected roles and skills we needed in 2020 and beyond as part of the Saturn-Uranus “dance of individualization” in our lives. We’ve begun to crystallize new group work and roles opening new chapters in our “hero’s journey” since the Summer of 2019. It is helpful to regard the Saturn squares to Uranus in 2021-2022 as preparing us for the 2022-2023 period when Saturn makes some long term very productive and specializing aspects with Uranus allowing us to craft a new individuality.
I explain how Saturn and Uranus awaken us to our Higher Powers to take conscious command of our destiny in my book Saturn: Spiritual Master, Spiritual Friend. Saturn helps us give form and structure to our quest for Self-realization, and due to its occupancy of Aquarius, we have a preliminary instruction on how we can make a greater contribution to our civilization and come together with others in a great effort “ensouled by a great vision.” This will allow our “new quality of Being” promised by Uranus to come alive as expressions of our unfolding Higher Consciousness.
It was written for both astrologers and non-astrologers, and will help you understand how your life experiences assisted your Soul growth and your power to change negative karma to positive karma. Even those with little or no understanding of astrology will benefit from understanding why you had to make certain choices at crucial times that shaped your life in profound ways. Each time you re-read any part of it you’re sure to find undiscovered gems of insight helping you throw off attitudes which frustrate your ability to live your higher Purpose on your own terms
This book offers insights about your power to throw off all the attitudes and memories which hold you back from finding and living the life and purpose. If you’ve haven’t already gotten your copy, you can go to the Saturn: Spiritual Master, Spiritual Friend page on Amazon and this should be all you need to order your copy. It’s also available on Amazon and as an ebook on Kindle, so if that’s more to your liking, go for it! If you would, whether you’ve gotten the ebook or the paperback, please write a review on the Amazon site, since the more reviews, the more of a boost they give it.
