A Look at Our Recent Presentations
Our December 17 gathering was a free Solstice program for members and the public. Robert gave an astrological analysis of the Solstice chart about what we can expect in the next season and year, followed by a brief overview of the coming Mercury retrograde and the Mercury retrograde themes for each of the past 5 years.
Our January 21, 2023 presentation featured Predictions for 2023 by a group of skilled astrologers from around the internet world giving their take on what’s coming for the next year. We got some excellent predictions for the coming year which ranged far and wide. The second part of the session Doc Benton gave his take on the most important factors to keep in mind throughout the year.
Our February 18 presentation featured Doc Benton giving us “An Overview of the Scientific Evidence in Support of Standard Astrological Theory.” Given Doc’s vast background in mathematics and science and his passion for astrology, this was a top shelf presentation giving us all useful facts we can put out into the world if challenged on whether there is evidence astrology works. You can find out more by going to his website at http://www.docbenton.com/
Our March 18 presentation featured Nick Dagan Best giving us a talk on “Merging Cycles: Venus and Mars at 32 and 64.” We explored the cycles of Venus and Mars and how they occupy the same signs at those ages as they did at birth, and the importance of the solar returns for those times.
Our April 15 presentation featured Laura DesJardines giving us a talk on “The Nodes: Past, Present, and Future Lives.” This exceptional talk explored many different angles of the subject, such as how the Lunar Nodes show us connections made related to past, present, and future lives and how they affect our psychological and spiritual levels of life.
Our May 20 presentation featured Robert Wilkinson giving an in-depth class on “The Many Factors in Chart Analysis” via Zoom. Robert offered 20 important analytical approaches in reading charts, followed by a short analysis of 5 different charts to illustrate how these different techniques can open vast vistas of understanding how charts work.
This talk is available for purchase. It consists of the class outline of the 20 factors and 9 audio tracks. The first four are part 1 where the points were discussed, and the last 5 are the short analyses of the different example charts. There is a tremendous amount of information in these tracks, which are guaranteed to yield new insights each time you listen to them. If you want to become a better chart reader, please consider purchasing the talk. It is $20 for members of Astrology Arizona and $30 for non-members.
What’s Coming in Our June Presentation
Our June 24 presentation welcomes back eminent political and mundane Astrologer Tony Dickey speaking on “The Great Year and Synodic Cycles” which are major historical cycles affecting our future. Tony is a master of long wave outer planet synodic cycles as they reveal major points where we are challenged and/or encouraged by transits to make crucial choices as a society and humanity.

AN ASTROLOGICAL OVERVIEW OF JUNE 2023
by Robert Wilkinson
(This column is an abbreviated version of what we send to members at the beginning of each month. If you want the complete overview, please join our organization.)
This year the month of June begins with all planets in direct motion except Pluto, and both Saturn and Neptune slowing down to go retrograde in the last half of the month. The late May T-square with Pluto sprouted the seeds of revolutionary social and spiritual developments related to the global transformations promised by Pluto’s entry into Aquarius. This month Pluto slips back into late Capricorn, showing the past will “come to present” between now and January, when Pluto returns to Aquarius.
This month brings the second non-lunar opposition since last November when Venus opposes Pluto in the first week of June. This will bring an echo of the Mars/Jupiter/Pluto T-square, though it will be a “staggered” effect as Venus doesn’t square Jupiter until June 11th. Still, whatever happens during those days will in some way be related to the May T-square.
Because this month is still under the influence of Mercury’s direct station at 6 Taurus, be open to being a good bridge builder in group situations. We’re all bridging a gap in some way which is preparing us for Jupiter’s transit of the same retrograde span this Autumn. Just remember that a major theme for the entire period of April 2023 through March 2024 is that old answers are inadequate to confirm the new conditions of existence, and old approaches aren’t adequate to deal with what’s happening. So find new approaches, new attitudes, new understanding, and don’t worry about the past; focus on finding new means to get things done.
Remember the first 17 days of the month are still under the influence of the May New Moon at 29 Taurus, helping us gain a different perspective and a more constructive blending of intuition and lower mind. This will come to fruition after the Full Moon “World Teacher Festival” at 14 Gemini/Sagittarius on June 3. The last 2 weeks of the month is under the influence of the June 17 New Moon at 27 Gemini, helping us see a distant future we may have longed for, whether we knew it or not.
When Jupiter entered Aries in May 2022 we launched into a new era which became a dominant theme when Mars conjuncted Jupiter in late May at 4 Aries. That conjunction began a 2 year cycle of learning how to enjoy life more naturally on our own terms. When Jupiter revisited that conjunction point in the third week of January it accelerated the growth of that energy, renewing its fiery expression. This month helps develop the themes of that conjunction to further the potential which has built this past year.
Saturn goes stationary retrograde in mid-June, and continues to bring deep and vast feeling energies to planets, points, or house cusps we have in Capricorn and Aquarius. Saturn’s station promises all of us “a call to renewal” wherever we have early Pisces. This is the beginning of a new life which will unfold quickly in early 2024.
Because Jupiter rules Pisces, this month Saturn will have a steady Taurus feel. As Jupiter is heralding where Saturn will transit in a few years, we’re all getting a sense of corners to be turned later this decade when Saturn transits Taurus and makes the waxing square to the December 2020 Jupiter/Saturn conjunction point at 1 Aquarius. That conjunction ended a 200 year Earth era and began a 200 year Air era, and set the sociocultural conditions for the greater Aquarian 20 year era now developing.
Planets Slowing Down, Speeding Up, or Shifting Signs
This month Mercury is at maximum speed through the Superior conjunction with the Sun on June 30 at 10 Cancer, after which it will slow until it goes retrograde in mid-August. Venus has begun to slow down, preparing to go retrograde in late July, and Mars continues to accelerate since it went stationary direct at 9 Gemini in mid-January. Jupiter continues at maximum speed, Saturn and Neptune both are slowing to go retrograde, and Uranus is gradually slowing through its retrograde station in late August.
In June we have four planets changing signs. This month the Sun, ruler of Leo and Cancer, will give us two (Gemini and Cancer), and Mercury, ruler of Gemini and Virgo, will give us three (Taurus, Gemini and Cancer. Venus, ruler of Taurus/Libra, will give us two (Cancer and Leo), and Pluto, spiritual ruler of Aries and Scorpio, will give us two (Capricorn and Aquarius).
Mars
As noted, Mars continues to pick up speed by the week. It went stationary direct at 9 Gemini in January, with a theme of being a Zen archer, sure in your aim as a result of your training between September 2022 and February 2023. This will be a theme for this year and the next. Mars is now in Leo, helping us be lighter and brighter in our expressions.
Mars is activating the house(s) where we have 7 to 24 Leo. Mars is happy in Leo, since that sign is in harmony with Mars’ Aries nature and is ruled by the Sun, which is exalted in Mars-ruled Aries. As the Sun is septile Mars the second and third weeks of the month before heading toward the semisquare at the end of June and early July, we’re in the harvest phase of their cycle, with important changes indicated by mid-month.
Between June 1-10, Mars will prove agitating to those with planets between 7-12 degrees of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius. Between June 11-20, it will have the same effect on planets between 12-19 degrees of those signs. And between June 21-30, it will agitate planets between 19-24 of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius.
As I’ve offered before, when Mars is within a degree of forming or separating from a hard aspect with a planet, slow down and show deliberation and caution in how you use force. Hard aspects to/from Mars always require that we moderate or antidote impulsiveness and impatience.
Sign Focus
This month the sign focus is on the signs occupied by the inner planets plus Jupiter, since Taurus and Leo are strong throughout the month. We begin the month with Mercury in Taurus, the Sun in Gemini, Venus in Cancer, and Mars in Leo. By the second week Venus is in Leo and by the third week Mercury’s in Gemini and Pluto has slipped back into Capricorn.
So the first week is spread out in Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, and Leo, with Venus shifting from Cancer to Leo. The second week Mercury strengthens Gemini while Venus strengthens Leo. That emphasis holds through the Solstice when the Sun enters Cancer followed quickly by Mercury entering Cancer. This month has shifting sign emphases, because we begin with at least one planet in Aquarius, Pisces, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, and Leo by the end of the month Taurus, Cancer, and Leo are the main players.
We’re Actors On A New Stage With A New Set
We’re still in the initial years of a new era. The Grand Mutation of Jupiter conjunct Saturn at 1 Aquarius began a new 20 year Aquarian Era in December 2020, as well as a new 200 year era, moving global energies out of Earth and into Air. We’ve begun to grow beyond the materialism of the past 200 years and have entered two centuries of Air emphasis, with its qualities of relatedness, receptivity, versatility, movability, lightness, and cooperative ideas, visions, and ideals.
We’re still "under the beams" of the Solar Eclipses we experienced in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022, and these “cosmic recyclers” continue to remove all that we no longer need in our lives. Take note of where you have 1 Cancer, 24 and 13 Sagittarius, 20 Gemini, 11 Taurus, and 2 Scorpio, since 1 Cancer aligns us with a larger reality, 24 Sagittarius helps us find happiness, 13 Sagittarius gives us a new identity and love, 20 Gemini removes what cannot be assimilated or communicated, 11 Taurus will help us remove “weeds from our garden of Life and Mind,” and the recent one at 2 Scorpio is helping us release attachments from the past as we enter a more complex social experience.
The May 2022 eclipses with Sun in Taurus have begun to shut down old value systems in that sector, as well as the Scorpio sector via the May Full Moon Wesak Festival eclipse. November’s Total Lunar Eclipse Full Moon at 17 Taurus/Scorpio is helping us tap our spiritual power and focus it through “hearing our inner God” and allowing our Higher Self to transform our lower self and our worldly expression. The Scorpio Solar and Lunar eclipses are already leading us to say goodbye to the past, giving up some old ideals, and finding a new perspective on how and when to do things. You can find out more about the Solar eclipse and Lunar eclipse by going to my site at www.aquariuspapers.com where there are numerous articles in the archives on how eclipses work.
Last month’s eclipses have begun to work their magic on our Aries and Libra sectors for quite a while to come. The Solar eclipse at 30 Aries is sure to shut down some elements wherever we have that in our charts, and the eclipses later this year will be the last in the Taurus/Scorpio sector with another one coming in our Libra sector.
As we study how successive Eclipses have affected various areas of our charts and lives, we can get a sense of the utility of these “Cosmic Recyclers” in removing what we no longer needed in those areas, creating a void which attracted new life experiences. They invite us to look back, and then forward, to see the continuity of “letting go, taking in, letting go, taking in” across the years.
The Grand Irrationality
In June, the 7-pointed “Star of Destiny" I’ve termed The Grand Irrationality is about to come to the end of its 30 year run in our lives! This month the configuration is in play around the time that Mercury conjuncts Uranus and septiles Neptune in early June, activating all 7 zones. Early July will be the final activation as Mercury and the Sun both biseptile Neptune and shortly after septile Uranus. (Of course, there are a number of eclipses and other celestial events in play which featured this configuration, so it’s still active in what’s being shut down for years to come.)
All of the septile-series 7th harmonic aspects from the inner planets to the outer spiritual planets represent turning points at the hard edge of revolutionary change we’ve been going through for a while. Obviously, this is activated every time the Moon moves through one of the seven “hot zones” of this evolutionary configuration.
All septile-series aspects are non-rational degree relationships representing “forks in the road of destiny” in any larger cycle. I have written extensively about “The Grand Irrationality,” a configuration which has been active since 1994, at my main website http://www.aquariuspapers.com where I explain why all of humanity is forging its future destiny at this time. If you have a planet or point near any of the seven zones, your life is sure to be affected. In June these zones are around 5-9 Aquarius, 27 Pisces-1 Aries, 19-23 Taurus, 10-14 Cancer, 1-5 Virgo, 22-26 Libra, and 13-17 Sagittarius.
During the periods these 7th harmonic aspects are in play, if things get weird or crazy, be clear about the choices you’re making. While a lot won’t “make sense,” it doesn’t have to; just be clear about what you’re doing and why. Even though there may be interactions with unreasonable or irrational people, we still have the power to respond in productive ways.
As with “hard” aspects to and from Mars, if that planet (or really any planet) is involved in any non-rational aspect, whether one to our natal Mars or transiting Mars making a non-rational aspect to one of our natal, progressed, or solar return planets, it’s a time to be cautious during the period when the aspect is within a degree of forming or separating. Things have a way of getting strange during 7th harmonic aspects, so those are times to be especially deliberate and thoughtful in choosing our responses.
Primary Action Beats for the First Half of the Month
June begins under the influence of the May New Moon at 29 Taurus. Where that falls in our charts shows where we are learning perspective through “the battle of the pros and cons.” The first week of the month shows Mars quincunx Saturn, Venus trine Neptune, Mercury conjunct Uranus, and Venus entering Leo. While June 1 has some difficult aspects, the Moon in Scorpio opens up a Grand Water trine on June 2. The Full Moon “World Teacher Festival” happens on June 3, with the Global Wisdom distributed by the Light of Telepathy expressed as “the power of spiritual ancestry.”
As the first week of June has the Moon between Scorpio and Aquarius, by our sensitivity we’ll open new vistas of experience and begin to reflect on the past 3 years. Venus trine Neptune gives us emotional clarity the first week, with innovative or original thinking favored June 3-5. Venus entering Leo and opposing Pluto on June 4-6 cautions us against corrosive people, or those which are getting us lost in loose ends or deflected from the gains we should be making.
The second week of June shows Mercury shifting from Taurus to Gemini, its home sign on June 11, the same day that Pluto slips back into Capricorn. That makes Mercury extraordinarily powerful during the short 15-day run in that sign. Venus square Jupiter on June 11th can bring a favorable release of Jupiter energy, so hang in there and don’t overdo it while thoroughly enjoying yourself.
Again, during this month Jupiter is in favorable sextile with Saturn, bringing productivity and harmony in the houses where we have early Taurus and early Pisces, with the effect of harmonizing the transiting rulers of the houses where we have Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces.
Primary Action Beats for the Second Half of the Month
The second half of the month begins a very intense time, as Mars builds to its square with Uranus during the entire time. We also find Mercury square Saturn, the last of the three squares from Gemini to Pisces this year, challenging us not to worry and to have a sense of humor. That third week of June also shows Mercury sextile Venus, Sun square Neptune, Jupiter sextile Saturn, Sun quincunx Pluto, and Mercury sextile both Mars and Chiron.
June 17 also shows Saturn going stationary retrograde which is a major “sea change” promising new beginnings to all who “hear the call to renewal.” Overall, it’s a fairly productive week which ends with the Northern Hemisphere Summer Solstice on June 21. With the aspects in that Solstice chart, we should all have a productive and healing Summer!
The fourth week of June finds the Moon between Leo and Scorpio. When in Libra and Scorpio, the Moon becomes the “nozzle” to focus all the other planetary energies. When in doubt, make sure you’re balanced with a healthy perspective and be willing to let go or charge forward, depending on the circumstance.
That week there are very productive and harmonizing aspects in play June 21, 22, 23, and 24. There can be some confusion on June 24-25 due to the Moon in Virgo making a T-square with Mercury square Neptune, so keep it light with a sense of humor. That immediately leads into Mars square Uranus, so go slow and be very careful from June 24 through 29. There are many quincunxes in play on June 26-27, so make adjustments and sacrifices while staying balanced.
June ends with Venus trine Chiron, Mercury trine Saturn, Neptune stationary retrograde, the Superior conjunction of Mercury with the Sun, and both Mercury and the Sun sextile Jupiter. All in all a fairly positive time, though when Neptune goes retrograde, it always marks a major sea change in the world. In any case, by the end of June we’re on the threshold of a much different experience than we’ve had the past several months!
Evolutionary Development
This is the seventeenth month of the North Node in Taurus era! We’re now in a time of our greatest development coming through the sign of appreciation, value, and enjoying the best life has to offer. The recent eclipses are already assisting us in letting go of strong feelings related to the past, as well as all which blocks us from going deeper into our connection to Source. With Taurus growth and Scorpio release, keep it simple and steady, showing what you know by releasing what needs releasing and attracting what needs attracting.
As I noted at the beginning, Mars conjunct Jupiter in Aries in late May 2022 began a 2 year adventure in opening to new ways of enjoying life and new freedom to be as authentic as we need to be. That cycle and other Aries cycles are already in motion, bursting into a bright flame thanks to the inner planet conjunctions with Jupiter and Chiron.
Our wise friend Saturn brought us to the threshold of radical transfiguration and entry into a greater field of conscious Light/Life in March, and now we’re in the deep waters of Pisces. This is a time of demonstrating a greater empathy, sense of connection, intuition, and compassion. Specific Saturn themes for June involve hearing the call to a life renewal!
The Sun in Gemini is a time to see the Light of being able to discover whatever we need to and find information we require to turn the corner when the Sun enters Cancer and brings new allegiances. This month we continue to move forward, building bridges using new information and new approaches, with opportunities for creative releases and a lot of fun.
We now continue our third year of the new Aquarian era, having renewed that energy via inner planet transits for this year. With Jupiter now in Taurus, it is finding new “expansive ground” which will sustain the process into the future. Move into the future, stabilize what you can, and make the most of the productivity promised this month.
The new 2023 Aquarian energies powered up the last four months, with rapid developments in March when Saturn entered Pisces and Pluto made its first appearance in Aquarius. As Jupiter is racing forward at maximum speed, embrace the future and don’t clutch as some things accelerate while we begin our review of Saturn’s lessons this year. This month begins our 2023 surfacing of the Aquarian vision, with a very dynamic Summer of Venus and Mars in Leo!
As we’re now at the beginning of the third year of a new 20 year and 200 year cycle, remember a new era has dawned. Have courage and take the initiative to leave the Earth and fly free into the Air of what’s opening as the Grand Mutation expands its promise into the Divine transfigured ideal of a more just truth and future. This month brings new information and perspectives of the new life we’ve embraced since March, so lighten up, play a little, and be willing to explore new arenas of effective activity where you can work and play with other Light Spirits, and take heart as we stand at the dawning of the coming Pluto in Aquarius era.
We have now collectively transfigured into a greater vision of the one Light/Life we all are together. Continue to find your heart strength and new forms of genuine happiness appropriate for who you are now, and who you are becoming relative to just a few months ago.
The 2022 Capricorn and Aquarius transits began a new chapter of utilizing forms of personal power in Capricorn to serve the emerging Aquarian ideal. A huge part of the past died in 2021 and 2022 and a new expansive inspired energy came in via the Mars conjunction with Jupiter in Aries. The past is over and we all have begun our trek into a new world of new potential, new adventures, and new ways to enjoy being ourselves while doing our work of Destiny. Open to the abundance of the process of growth, since we are all on a rocket ship to the stars!

Until next month (or whenever we meet again, since tomorrow is never guaranteed)

THE GRAND MUTATION AND GRAND IRRATIONALITY
by Robert Wilkinson
When Jupiter and Saturn entered Aquarius and made their once-every-20-year conjunction, we launched into a new 20 year Aquarian era and a 200 year era dominated by all three Air signs! We weathered the Taurus to Aquarius squares of 2021 and thanks to several important events in 2022-23, now face a brand new future!
We are almost at the end of the 30-years period of "The Grand Irrationality" created by Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in 7th harmonic "Star of Destiny" aspects with each other. This was activated each time the Moon or any planet moved through one of the seven “hot zones” of this evolutionary configuration. This septile-based "fork in the road" aspect is indicative of the hard edge of revolutionary change which has been in play for 30 years and is ending this month. Of course, almost everyone born these past 30 years has it active in their charts, so we'll still be living with the after effects for many years to come!
* * * * *
Saturn is now in Pisces, bringing lessons of compassion, forgiveness, and how to achieve a mature closure on our ghosts while helping others deal with theirs. While we’ll still be focused on the group work set into motion the last 2+ years, at this time we're entering a long term productive relationship between Jupiter and Saturn, promising a lot will get done if we just joyous plow the field we are meant to work.
Because Saturn plays such a large part in our lives, if you haven’t gotten your copy already, please give yourself the timeless gift of my book, Saturn: Spiritual Master, Spiritual Friend. This book shows you the way to take command of your power to steer your life in a conscious way, using Saturn’s strengths and skills to master life on your own terms.
Remember that while Saturn can feel heavy, it is also our ability to take command of our lives and destiny by using Saturn’s virtues in the right way and time. Our ability to steer our “ship of personality” into its rightful “current of destiny” is in front of us, based in how we have prepared for our “role of destiny” heading at us like an express train!
In 2019 we awakened to "a new quality of Being," and rehearsed and perfected roles and skills we needed in 2020 and beyond as part of the Saturn-Uranus “dance of individualization” in our lives. We’ve begun to crystallize new group work and roles opening new chapters in our “hero’s journey” since the Summer of 2019. It is helpful to regard the Saturn squares to Uranus in 2021-2022 as preparing us for the 2022-2023 period when Saturn makes some long term very productive and specializing aspects with Uranus allowing us to craft a new individuality.
I explain how Saturn and Uranus awaken us to our Higher Powers to take conscious command of our destiny in my book Saturn: Spiritual Master, Spiritual Friend. Saturn helps us give form and structure to our quest for Self-realization, and due to its occupancy of Aquarius, we have a preliminary instruction on how we can make a greater contribution to our civilization and come together with others in a great effort “ensouled by a great vision.” This will allow our “new quality of Being” promised by Uranus to come alive as expressions of our unfolding Higher Consciousness.
It was written for both astrologers and non-astrologers, and will help you understand how your life experiences assisted your Soul growth and your power to change negative karma to positive karma. Even those with little or no understanding of astrology will benefit from understanding why you had to make certain choices at crucial times that shaped your life in profound ways. Each time you re-read any part of it you’re sure to find undiscovered gems of insight helping you throw off attitudes which frustrate your ability to live your higher Purpose on your own terms
This book offers insights about your power to throw off all the attitudes and memories which hold you back from finding and living the life and purpose. If you’ve haven’t already gotten your copy, you can go to the Saturn: Spiritual Master, Spiritual Friend page on Amazon and this should be all you need to order your copy. It’s also available on Amazon and as an ebook on Kindle, so if that’s more to your liking, go for it! If you would, whether you’ve gotten the ebook or the paperback, please write a review on the Amazon site, since the more reviews, the more of a boost they give it.
